The Linux Control Center (LCC) features native integration with VMware virtualization systems. With this functionality, it's possible to automatically and securely generate snapshots of machines managed by LCC. Focused on maintaining service availability and minimizing risks during updates, LCC offers the ability to generate VMware snapshots whenever machines undergo any update process. This enables the restoration of machine states in case of undesired upgrades or issues stemming from new versions of packages on the machines. As a result, users benefit from:
Operational Security
Automatic creation of snapshots before updates, ensuring the ability to revert to a previous functional state in case of issues.
Risk Minimization
Reduction of negative impacts during updates, providing a proactive approach to avoid potential disruptions in server operation.
recovery efficiency
Ease and speed in restoring to a pre-update state in case of unexpected problems.
This option will show all machines accessible to snapshot via VMware.
Next to the Hosts menu, click on the Actions option, define which actions will trigger the creation of a snapshot on the previously selected machines, and then click save.
It is important to emphasize that the LCC operates with the minimum permissions necessary in third-party systems, so snapshot management is not performed on VMWare. It is necessary for the team to be responsible for managing resources, such as available storage space for snapshots and other intrinsic operations within the snapshot lifecycle within your corporation.
